Help Us

We appreciate several kinds of help and donations.

  • Join us! Your expertise as a quilter is always welcome. Sew at home or at our semimonthly workshops. We have no business meetings and no dues! After you donate your first quilt, you may 'shop' from our large fabric stash… no charge! We have a friendly group and everyone helps each other.

  • To make a cash donation and ensure your donation will benefit children in the San Francisco Bay Area, please write your check to "Quilts for Kids, Inc." and indicate "Silicon Valley Chapter" as a note on your check (and envelope, too),

  • Finished items such as wheelchair bags, children's quilts, preemie pads, crib-size and quilts for teenagers may be donated. Quilts must be made from previously unused quilting-weight 100% cotton fabric, machine pieced and machine quilted every 2-3 inches. We can't accept quilts made with fleece, minky, hand tying, invisible or metallic thread or embellishments. Bind your quilt by machine. Check for pins and launder your quilt before donating it. See our Quilting Pointers page for more advice on making your quilt.

  • Unused 100% cotton quilting fabrics in kid-friendly colors and patterns are always needed. Mention Quilts for Kids to your quilting friends and family. They may be looking for a way to thin their fabric collection and bringing comfort to kids in need may be just the incentive they need.

  • Ask your longarm quilter for batting scraps. We stitch them together as batting is our greatest expense and this allows us to stretch our budget.
