Our chapter selects the agencies where our quilts are donated. When we add an agency to our list, we commit to providing continued gifts of quilts to children the agency will serve in the future.
Children hospitalized with life-threatening conditions are always on our list. When possible, children choose their own quilt; they take it home when they leave the facility. It provides a friendly hug in unsettling circumstances and lets their families know there is someone ‘outside’ who cares about their child at this frightening time.
We give to children living with their mothers in transitional housing for victims of domestic violence. Some kids in the shelter arrive with nothing but their diaper or the clothes on their backs. A quilt of their own conveys security and comfort during this sudden upheaval.
We give to organizations serving unhoused and foster youth, lending a hand to kids who have few personal belongings and a sense that others have forgotten about them.
We give to girls who live in a protective residence for victims of human trafficking.
Any member of the community may contact us to request a quilt for a child in need.
